About

We are a theologically diverse congregation within the United Methodist tradition, experiencing God’s grace in a variety of ways. We trust that God is working in every person’s life, inviting each and every person into a relationship with God and others that is meaningful, servant-oriented, and life-fulfilling.

We are a neighborhood church located within the Village of Sanford. Our membership is currently 235, and our attendance varies depending upon the time of year, anywhere from 130 to 60.

Our history reflects the faithfulness of previous generations, who began to meet as Methodists in the Sanford area over 100 years ago. The original Averill Methodist Episcopal Church building is now located on the Sanford Historical Museum grounds. Our current sanctuary building was constructed in the 1960’s. Classroom and office space was added in the 1980’s.  We are currently embarked on a building program to make our facility fully handicap accessible.
